A Complete Guide to Walt Disney World’s Skyliner

Walt Disney World Skyliner

What is the Disney Skyliner?

The Disney Skyliner is a magical twist on your typical theme park transportation, it’s a gondola system in the sky! Opened in 2019, the Skyliner connects several Walt Disney World resorts to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, offering incredible views and a breezy, fun way to get around. Think of it as a mini attraction in itself!

Why guests love it:

  • Fast & Scenic – Glide above the trees, catching views of the parks, resorts, and even glimpses of fireworks at night.
  • No Bus Crowds! – Skip the lines for buses and hop into your own private gondola.
  • Direct Park Access – Get from your resort to the parks with ease, no transfers if you’re staying on the route.
  • Great for midday breaks – Head back to your resort for a swim or nap, then zip back for more fun.

Skyliner stops include:

  • EPCOT (International Gateway)
  • Hollywood Studios
  • Caribbean Beach Resort (the main hub)
  • Pop Century & Art of Animation
  • Riviera Resort

A few things to keep in mind:

  • The Skyliner doesn’t go to Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom.
  • It pauses during lightning storms or high winds, buses will be provided as a backup.
  • While most rides are smooth, if you’re nervous with heights or motion, just be aware, it sways a little on windy days.
  • Gondolas move continuously, so even at peak times, the line usually keeps moving!
  • There’s no air conditioning on board, but clever cross-ventilation keeps the ride surprisingly cool, even on warm days.

Accessibility & Comfort

  • Each gondola can accommodate up to 10 guests seated, or 6 if including a wheelchair or mobility scooter.
  • Loading slows down or pauses to safely board guests who need extra time or mobility assistance.
  • Pushchairs (strollers) can remain open during the ride, no need to fold, as long as they fit within size limits (generally 30” x 48”).

Top Tip for Nervous Riders:

If anyone in your party is a little unsure about heights, aim for riding early in the morning or later in the evening when crowds are lighter and the ride feels more relaxed. Sitting in the middle of the bench can help ease nerves too. Unlike traditional cable cars, the Skyliner gondolas glide smoothly through the air with very little sway. They’re more stable than you might expect!

Trivia Time! There are over 300 gondolas in the fleet, and many are decorated with characters. Keep an eye out for the character designs on each gondola, it’s always a exciting to see which one you’ll ride in, and spotting your favourites from the ground is all part of the fun!

I have put together this fun reference guide to help you navigate the Skyliner routes, travel times, and destinations.
