Florida might be called the Sunshine State, but at Walt Disney World, rain is almost guaranteed to make an appearance, especially in the warmer months! But don’t worry: a rainy day at Magic Kingdom doesn’t mean the magic has to stop. In fact, with a little planning (and the right attitude), it can turn into one of your most memorable Disney days yet.
Here are my top Rainy Day Hacks for Magic Kingdom, perfect for staying dry, having fun, and avoiding that soggy sulk!

Indoor Rides to Duck Into When the Skies Open
There are plenty of attractions that keep you undercover while still delivering that Disney magic:
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin – Zap those aliens and stay dry while doing it!
- It’s a Small World – A classic boat ride through colourful scenes and catchy tunes.
- Peter Pan’s Flight – Soar over London and Neverland in your own flying pirate ship.
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh – Bounce through the Hundred Acre Wood in your own honey pot.
- Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid – A shell ride through Ariel’s world.
- Pirates of the Caribbean – Adventure with Captain Jack Sparrow in this dark boat ride.
- Haunted Mansion – Spooky, silly and totally indoors.
- Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor – Sit down and laugh with Mike Wazowski and the gang.
These are perfect for passing the time until the storm clears (and often have shorter queues when it’s raining too!).
Indoor Shows to Rest Your Feet (and Dry Off!)
Rain is a great excuse to take a break and catch some of Magic Kingdom’s lesser-known shows:
- Mickey’s PhilharMagic – A fun 4D musical journey with Donald Duck.
- Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress – A rotating theatre sharing the story of American innovation.
- Country Bear Jamboree – Quirky animatronic bears in a fun, musical variety show.
- Enchanted Tiki Room – Singing birds, flowers, and Tiki gods. Iconic and dry!
These shows are rarely packed, so they’re a great way to wait out the weather with a bit of Disney charm.
Indoor Character Meets
Avoid soggy selfies! Head to these indoor meet-and-greet spots for hugs, high-fives and dry hair:
- Town Square Theater – Meet Mickey Mouse in his magician’s outfit.
- Princess Fairytale Hall – Meet beloved princesses like Cinderella, Tiana, and Rapunzel.
- Ariel’s Grotto – Meet Ariel with her tail (and a cute themed backdrop).
- Pete’s Silly Sideshow – Say hi to Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy in circus gear!
These locations are all fully indoors, with air con and adorable photo ops—what’s not to love?
Watch for the Rainy Day Cavalcade!
If it’s raining just enough to cancel the regular parades, keep your eyes peeled for the Rainy Day Cavalcade—a special mini parade with rare characters in ponchos and umbrellas. It’s cute, quick, and a fun surprise!
Shop Without Getting Soaked
Main Street, U.S.A. is made for rainy days. The shops along the street are all connected indoors, so you can browse for souvenirs, ears, snacks or ponchos without stepping foot in the rain.
Top tip: It’s also a great spot to dry off while waiting for the rain to pass!
Embrace the Chaos
Sometimes… you just get soaked. And that’s okay! My family always packs ponchos and spare socks! Crocs are a great choice of footwear, they dry quickly . On one trip, we embraced the puddles and ended up laughing more than we had all day.
“The nicest thing about the rain is that it always stops. Eventually.” – Eeyore
Rainy days might not be picture perfect, but they can be magically memorable, especially when you know what to do.
