A Walt Disney World holiday is a dream come true—but let’s be honest, it’s not always kind to your wallet. The good news? There are loads of clever ways to save without missing out on the magic. Whether you’re travelling from the UK or Ireland, here are my top tips for getting the most value out of your trip:

1. Take Advantage of the Free Disney Dining Plan
If you’re staying onsite at a Disney Resort Hotel, the Disney Dining Plan can be a great value, especially during select promotional dates. For 2026 trips, you can qualify for the Dining & Merchandise Credit offer if you book before 5th November 2025, so it’s worth locking in early to grab this perk.
2. Share Meals or Order from the Kids’ Menu
Quick service portions can be huge, and often easily shared between two people. Adults can also order from the kids’ menu in most cases, it’s a great way to save money and still stay full.
3. Bring Your Own Snacks
Head to a local supermarket like Walmart or Target when you arrive and stock up on snacks, breakfast bits, and drinks. You’re allowed to bring food into the parks (no glass containers), and a few well-packed zip lock bags can help avoid splurging on pricey snacks inside.
4. Skip Bottled Water
No need to buy water bottles all day, quick service locations offer free ice water, and there are refill stations around all four parks. Bringing a refillable water bottle from home will save you loads.
5. Pack Ponchos & Rain Gear at Home
Florida rain is no joke, but neither is the price of ponchos in the parks! (Typically around $12 each) Grab a few from Amazon or your local discount shop before you fly. The same goes for fans, cooling towels, blister plasters, or anything you might need.
6. Think Twice About Car Hire
If you’re staying offsite, be aware that parking at Disney parks costs $30 per day. Depending on your location, Uber or Lyft can often work out cheaper than a hire car – plus, no parking stress or trying to remember where you’ve left the car!
7. Mix Sit-Down and Quick Service Meals
Table-service meals are fun, but they add up fast and take up valuable park time. Pick a couple of must-do restaurants and stick to quick service the rest of the time, it’s quicker, cheaper, and still delicious!
8. Buy Outfits and Ears Before You Go
Disney ears in the parks cost around $35+, but you can find gorgeous options on Vinted, eBay, or Etsy beforehand for a fraction of the price. Same goes for Disney tees, costumes, and accessories. Just watch out for unofficial or poor-quality items—read reviews before you buy!
9. Visit the Disney Outlet Stores for Official Bargains
Before you splash out on merchandise in the parks, consider a visit to the Disney Character Warehouse at Vineland Premium Outlets or International Drive. These official Disney outlets sell genuine park merchandise—often up to 70% off! You’ll find everything from ears and tees to Loungefly bags and toys.
Be warned: there can be queues to get in, especially early in the day or during busy weeks, but the savings can be well worth the wait.
10. Bring Your Own Autograph Book & Pens
Character meet-and-greets are a huge part of the fun—but the official autograph books can be quite expensive. Pick one up on Amazon, Etsy or make your own with the kids before you go. It adds to the excitement and saves you a bit of spending money.
11. Don’t Overspend on Bubble Wands & Toys
Glow wands and light-up toys are seriously tempting, especially for little ones after dark—but they’re much cheaper when bought beforehand. Stock up on glow sticks and small Disney-themed goodies to surprise them with throughout your trip.
12. Bring Your Own Pushchair
Stroller hire in the parks can get expensive fast (around $15 a day!) If you’re travelling with little ones, bringing your own pushchair or picking up a cheap second-hand one is a great way to save. It’s much more cost-effective and gives you the freedom to use it outside the parks too. Even if your child has technically outgrown it, it might still be worth considering—our 6-year-old used one and it was a lifesaver for tired legs after long park days. It also doubles up as somewhere to stash bags, snacks, and ponchos!
13. Use a Travel Card (Like Monzo or Starling) to Avoid Hidden Fees
When you’re spending in dollars, those little foreign transaction fees can sneak up on you! Some UK and Irish credit or debit cards add 2–3% extra to every purchase abroad. Before you go, check with your bank—or consider using a travel-friendly card like Monzo, Starling, or Chase UK, which have no overseas fees and use the Mastercard exchange rate.
